DeLois has been with The Smile Train since its inception in 1999, when the Founding Board Members asked her to use her global network of contacts to initiate and establish an array of international programs. Prior to joining the Smile Train, she worked in development; management and fund-raising for non-profit global cleft care organizations.

DeLois' small but very dedicated staff has since helped her to develop over 670 programs and partnerships in over 70 countries all over the world. The organization's partnership with the China Charity Foundation, which is both The Smile Train's largest partnership and the biggest charity project in China, is one initiative she is especially pleased to have put into motion.

First involved with children with cleft lip and palate through her background in nursing, DeLois has devoted her professional life to ensuring that every child born with a cleft, no matter how poor or remotely located, receives the surgical care he or she needs. Since 1985 her travels have taken her to the Philippines, Thailand, India, Vietnam, China, Kenya, Liberia, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico.
