Dr. Githinji is a Kenyan and joined The Smile Train in March 2008 after spending more than 8 years in the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, he worked as a Head of Medical Quality in a Health Maintenance Organization where he also practiced as a General Practitioner.

His background in marketing and sales at GlaxoSmithKline, which spans 6 years, is marked with various achievements in both East and South Africa and culminated in his appointment as General Manager Marketing and Sales at Nation Media Group, the biggest media group in East and Central Africa.

He was a founding member of the Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida Foundation in Kenya which caters for free surgeries for children suffering from Hydrocephalu.

Dr. Githinji has a Bachelors degree in Medicine and Surgery later pursuing a Masters in Business Administration at the United States International University majoring in Marketing. He is married to Susan and has 3 children. He enjoys theatrical performances having at one time been an amateur actor in Kenya.
