Dr. Shell Xue joined The Smile Train as Chief Project Officer for the China operations on September 1, 2006 with over 15 years working in various team leader positions in multi-national healthcare corporations in the United States, United Kingdom and China. Prior to The Smile Train she was the Legal Representative and the China National Program Director of Project HOPE, a leading international non-profit organization for worldwide medical services and education.

Shell has consistently shown both professional and leadership capabilities in her management roles, especially in project design, team building & project management, and in developing partnerships with medical institutes and hospitals and establishing networks with medical associations/societies and government sectors.

Shell holds an M.D. and a Master's Degree of Clinical Pharmacology. She received systematic medical training from Shanghai JiaoTong University Medical School in China, postdoctoral training from Eastern Virginia Medical School and healthcare leadership training from Yale University's School of Medicine. She is a member of the Medical Education Committee, China Medical Doctors Association since 2003 and a member of the Executive Committee of Evidence-based Medicine, China Medical Doctors Association since 2004.
